9. Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000) House. 1890. She purchased the house for $8,000 in 1953, 3 years after winning the Pulitzer Prize and lived here until 1994.

Charles S. Brownell School. 1939.  Other than Brownell was a real estate speculator, nothing else was found out about Brownell.
